Zhao Bandi — an artist, photographer, and installation artist, he is considered one
of the most profound contemporary authors in China. Zhao graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and began working in the late 1980s, when the Communist Party had already allowed the expressive abstractions
of Rauschenberg and even body art to be seen by the Chinese public. After many successful oil paintings of the «classical period,» he moved on to photography, performances, and various forms of cross-border art.

From 1999 to 2004, Zhao Bandi's works related to pandas were presented in the subway, airports, and on the streets of many cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Milan, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Oslo, and Tokyo. The cycle of installations
«The Era of the Panda» sparked debates about the extent to which diverse art forms can be combined and how appropriate philosophical performances and installations are in public spaces.

The main exhibit of the «Nest» project is the installation of the same name by Zhao Bandi. The work features a bamboo hut inside which an easel with a painting
is installed. The work was created during the COVID–19 lockdown, so the resting
place is a hammock made of a medical mask hanging nearby.
