HI, VANYA!
Tong Tianqing is a contemporary Chinese artist who uses traditional ink in his works. He was born in 1972 in Anyang, Henan, and now works and lives in Beijing. After graduating from the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1995, Tong Tianqing worked
in publishing, film, and education.
In his work, the artist combines the methods of conceptualism with the traditions of classical Chinese painting, folk art, and Buddhist mural paintings. He moves freely from intimate graphics
on the finest rice paper to monumental wall painting.
Exploring the relationship between word and image, Tong Tianqing focuses on scenes of everyday life, addressing existential issues through them. The main means of expression for the artist
is the line. About his new project, the artist says: "My wall graphics are inspired by everything
I see in Moscow, its antiquity and modernity. My principle is not to chase completeness or fullness, but to immerse myself in the process of exploration."
