In 2020, when the Covid-19 epidemic was raging, a Chinese artist, perplexed and depressed, built himself a Nest: he covered the platform with bamboo leaves, set up a bamboo shelter, hung a hammock in the form of a medical mask, and placed his painting inside the shelter. The most interesting aspect was that this rather personal space, ambiguously combining the physical presence of the artist Zhao Bandi and his spiritual refuge, from the moment of the first exhibition belonged not only to the artist himself. People wanted to gather there to share their experiences and find peace of mind. Three years have since passed, and the Nest, like a small boat driven by the flow of life, has visited ten cities in China—Shanghai, Wuhan, Nanjing, Xiamen, Shenyang, Shunde, Qingdao, Chengdu, Changzhou, and Zhengzhou. It is impossible to count how many people have rejoiced and grieved in it.
Today, the global flood of the epidemic has finally receded, but the world remains immersed in an anxious whirlpool of events, and people, under the pressure of reality, still thirst for a sip of art, finding solace in it. At the end of 2023, Zhao Bandi's "Nest" crossed national borders and, unafraid of difficulties and snow, arrived in Moscow. The Chinese Nest will be glad to welcome all friends from Russia who come to visit it. Let's share our time, joy, doubts, and even sorrows here...
