In 2023, he joined the Creative Union of Artists.

His works are in private collections in Russia and other countries,
as well as in the collections of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Russian Foundation for Culture, the Moscow Union of Artists, the Moscow Museum
of Modern Art, the Aksenov Foundation, Art-Finance LLC, and regional museums in Russia.

Egor Plotnikov works in the field of figurative painting and sculpture. Paintings and sculptural objects are often presented in the form of combined works and installations.
The artist explores the theme of the real landscape as a social landscape
and the pictorial landscape as a «museum» genre existing on the periphery
of the current cultural field. By depicting wastelands, roadsides, and buffer zones located on the border between human habitation and wild nature on his canvases, the artist moves the character of the painting — the viewer's sculpture — beyond the pictorial plane. The artwork begins to look at itself. Large-format paintings
are often «compressed» into small «insignificant» landscape fragments, while character-sculptures begin to «hide» from the viewer. The empty wall/canvas/sheet and the space of the hall become a strong communication field and an important part of the work.
